Twitter event *tion presented at WI 2012

Our work on event detection, classification and summarization on Twitter has been presented last week at Web Intelligence conference 2012 (WI 2012).
In this work, titled Brand-related Events Detection, Classification and Summarization on Twitter, we propose a method for identifying, from the huge and ever increasing amount of text generated by Twitter users everyday, those themes (events) that become suddenly relevant to many users. The method then assesses the sentiment polarity that users tend to associate with these events and finally identifies one or more tweets which best represent all tweets about the event.
More detailed information can be found in the slides of the talk we held at WI 2012 and in the paper, which are both available in the paper page.
